WARDOGS FOB Guide: How to Build and Defend a Base

🧠 TacticsUpdated 10 Sep 2026

FOBs and fortifications turn a contested Zone into a held one. Here is how to build, defend, and plan a base.

Holding a Control Zone is far easier from a base than from open ground. FOBs and fortifications are the Support player's way of turning a contested Zone into a held one.

What a FOB does

A forward operating base anchors your presence on the Zone: it gives your team cover, fighting positions, and a place to fall back to. You build it with the Support track build tools, the Hammers, after buying the FOB from the vendor. Building levels Support.

Building one that holds

  1. Site it right. Cover the approaches to the Zone, not a random corner. A FOB in the wrong place is wasted cash.
  2. Layer it. Fighting positions in front, cover to fall back through, and clear lines for your own fire.
  3. Do not overbuild under fire. Get the essentials up fast, then improve as the fight allows.

Defending it

Keep infantry inside and on the walls, armour on the approaches, and watch the sky. Your biggest threat is artillery: the SPH-2 is built to break FOBs from range, so deny the enemy easy observation of your base.

Plan before you build

Lay the whole base out in 3D before the match with the free FOB Builder, so what you build is what you planned. Defend a Zone with a squad that builds together.
