New to WARDOGS? Here is how the game works, how the Zone is won, and the money mistakes to avoid on day one.
WARDOGS is a large-scale tactical shooter from BULKHEAD, published by Team17. Up to 100 players split across three factions fight over a single objective on a big Eastern European map. It rewards teamwork over lone-wolf play, so the fastest way to enjoy it is to run with a squad on comms.
The three factions
Every match is a three-way fight between Lonestar (a Texan private military company that fights for the paycheck), Valkyra (a red army pushing to bring back the Soviet People's Republic), and Manticore (the Kingdom of Persia's shadow army out of Tehran). Pick a side and hold the line.
How a match is won
The fight funnels toward one randomised Control Zone, roughly 2 by 2 kilometres, that sits somewhere inside a much larger map and can shift between matches. Every 30 seconds, whichever faction has the most players inside the Zone scores a point. First faction to 100 points wins. That single rule drives everything: you win by putting bodies in the Zone and keeping the enemy out, not by padding your own kill count out in a field.
Your first life
You start with $10,000 and that cash carries between matches. Every time you spawn you kit out from the shop, weapons, gear, and vehicles all cost money. Spend for the job in front of you: a cheap rifle and a ride to the Zone beats an expensive loadout you lose in the first thirty seconds.
Do not fear dying
If you are killed outright, the gear you bought that life refunds at roughly 90%, so a careful death is not a disaster. Redeploy through the shop and get back to the Zone. What you should avoid is bleeding cash on vehicles you crash or lose far from the fight.
